Someone suggested I do a thread to help people new to roleplaying with roleplaying. So here it is...
First of all, if you are signing up here, go to the "Need Help
Now that you are signed up, let's go over some basics. Essentially the idea of roleplaying is to play a character and to stay into character (unless you are talking in the chat box.)
When roleplaying, there are two ways to roleplay...
The first way is that whenever you type something in between two of these "*", you are doing an action. And anytime those do not appear, your character is speaking.
The second, and most used roleplay types, and the one you may want to use on other sites, is that you use "quotes" to talk, and everything else is an action.
-I allow either of those ways, but some other sites may not.
Now, In both of those types of roleplaying, whenever you need to say something out of character you use brackets or "()" sometimes you use double brackets or "(())".
On most other sites, a roleplay is not ok to join unless it says "open" in the title somewhere. Which means that anyone can join. On Blood Lust Romance, THIS SITE, all roleplays are open. Except roleplays that say "Private".
Typically when joining a site they will have you sign up, then fill out a sort of application. So always remember to check and see if you need to fill out an application.
It is with upmost importance, that when you join up a on a roleplaying site, that you read the rules. First of all, some of their rules may be something you would not agree with and you may not want to be part of that roleplay because of a rule. Second of all, it is good to read the rules anyways, so that you do not violate a rule, and get kicked off a site or temporarily banned. Also, on some roleplaying sites, they include some kind of thing they require you to put into your application so that they know you actually read the rules.
That is all I could think of that people new to roleplaying might need to know, I will add more as I think of it, but otherwise, Welcome to Roleplaying!
