Kurai Tsuki Tradger was born over 5,000 years ago, when the worlds were much different than they are today. The worlds were unified back then, but there was no IWK. There was instead the Tribe of Ashkendi, in the city of Mura Genkei. Kurai was a child of two of the greatest Nobles of their age.

Ashkendi nobility was earned, not born into. The Nobles of Ashkendi were the keepers of unity between the worlds, having risen up near one of the only portals that opens into all the other worlds. Through signs of prophecy, Kurai was determined to be the Uniter, a being who would lead the Ashkendi people through a time of great turmoil and bring peace to the worlds as the next Prince.
However, Kurai was, in those days, not a very studious man, and his heart was full of levity. He did not want the responsibility of being the Prince of Ashkendi, though he was pressed into it by his family and his leaders. One night, Kurai decided to leave Mura Genkei in secret, and start a new life somewhere else, as a wanderer.

After he left, though, he learned that a great force from the dark worlds had arisen and beseiged Mura Genkei, and was slaughtering her people by the dozens. Rushing back with fear and dread, He arrived just as the elder nobility unleashed their energy and destabilized all the portals in all the worlds. He had been pushed into a portal by a demon he was fighting just as this happened, and he was flung through time many many years into the future. Rematerializing thousands of years later, he looked around at his once great city and saw only ancient ruins, and he knew that it was his fault. This realization changed him, turning the once carefree young man into a dour, intense crusader.Resolving to never again abandon his responsibilities, he trains intensely every day in all his disdciplines.

A few years later, he found himself again in the ruins of Ashkendi. Walking up the castle, he noticed a golden glow that reminded him of the days when the Elder Nobility would fill the city with such light. Rushing forward, he arrived in the great hall just in time to see the light fade. As it did, he heard the voices of his people, all speaking in unison.
"Help her, Kurai, redeem yourself and be at peace. Help her bring unity to the cosmos once more..."
When the light faded, he saw a half-vampire female collapse in its wake. He rushed forward and caught her. Kurai cared for her for two days, nursing her back to consciousness, hoping she would help him maker sense of what he heard. When she came to, and told him of her experience, he knew what must be done. He returnd with her and helped to found the IWK, fighting at her side to restore the unity he had once helped to destroy through irresponsibility.
The two of them eventually fell in love and soon wed, and have been together ever since. Twenty Three years ago, a child came to them, who they took in and named Venus, who paled skin reminded him of the silvery light of Mura Genkei.
